In May while I was still on maternity leave, my principal called me to see if I could have my mom watch my kids so I could come to school. I asked her if something was wrong and she said no. I was worried it had to do with my class/sub, etc. So I got my mom to watch the kids and when I got to school, my superintendent, assistant superintendents, and principals from other schools were all there at the office. Talk about being a little nervous about what in the world was going on. My counselor joked around and said, "You've been on maternity leave what have you done, HA!" So my principal walks me to my room and they had to go get my kids b/c they were in their pull-out class. They came back thinking they were in trouble and so did I! HA! Well it turns out that I had been nominated by a fellow teacher in my building to receive the Teacher's Heart Award. I can honestly say I was so honored to receive this award. They name one teacher per month and throughout the district. I also received $500 to spend in my classroom. I feel blessed to be in the job that I am. I learn more form my students every day and I love the staff I work with! What a great day that was!
